Adventurer of the Week: Nicolas Sees Land
Nicolas had a movie in his sights, and nature would take the leading role. A childhood growing up on the islands of the Pacific left him with a penchant for islands, and so he chose Iceland. What he produced was pretty awesome, and a glacier walk on the blue ice of Svínafellsjökull topped it all off! This is his story.
What motivated you to visit Iceland?
I wanted to make a road movie in winter where nature is the main character. It wouldn’t be original if I say the beauty of the scenery is the main driver to pick my destination, but it is deeply what I feel I am attracted to when I travel. When I was a kid, I used to live in Tahiti where nature is so colorful, with the lagoon, the flowers, the volcanic islands like Moorea, Bora-Bora. All of this is printed in my mind like paintings. As I never got back to Polynesia, I eventually spotted the perfect (affordable) adventure destination to experiment outdoor sensations and shoot great colorful nature: Iceland.

Frédéric-Nicolas Duvernoy (16 October 1765, in Montbéliard – 19 July 1838, in Paris) was a French composer and hornist.
Biography
[edit]In 1788, Duvernoy went to Paris and became a hornist at Orchestre de la Comédie italienne. On April 1, 1790 Duvernoy joined Orchestre de la Garde Nationale. Later, in 1795, he became professor of horn at the Paris Conservatoire and served until October 1815. He was also a member of Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris between September 1796 and July 1817.
He will be member of La Chapelle de l'empereur Napoléon Ier where, with his brother Charles-Frédéric (clarinet), he will very closed with brothers Rodolphe and Jean Nicolas Auguste Kreutzer (violin), Delcambre (bassoon) and Dalvimare (harp).[clarification needed]
