    Fernando Méndez-Leite Serrano was born in Madrid on 6 May ,[1][2] son to Fernando Méndez-Leite von Haffe&#;[ca],[3][4] a falangist film writer, author of a History of the Spanish Cinema.[5] He studied filmmaking at the EOC&#;[es] for two years after graduating in law from the University of Madrid in [4][6]

The foundation has its seat in a building developed by Pancho Guedes at Avenida Kim Il Sung in the Sommerschield neighbourhood.[1]

    In , Mia Couto, one of the most famous writers of Mozambique, founded the Fundação Fernando Leite Couto with the goal to promote the arts, culture and literature of Mozambique and to provide them a space in the Mozambique's capital. The foundation was inaugurated on April 15, , by Fernando Leite Couto's three sons, Mia, Fernando Amado and Armando Jorge. The foundation has a large cultural program and is also planning to offer scholarships and awards to promote young Mozambican authors.[2][3]
