Outstanding Scottish landscape from the late 19th to early 20th century oil on canvas. Born in Scone, Frazer would participate in the growth and development of Scottish landscape painting during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Long desiring to compete with the artistic endeavors of England, Scotland was making sure to make its mark, investing heavily in its artists. When his studies were complete, he would then base himself out of Edinburgh as he pursued a professional career. William Miller (28 May &#; 20 January ) was a Scottish Quaker line engraver and watercolourist from Edinburgh.

Life

Miller became an apprentice to William Archibald in His first published engraving was in that year, of an apple tree for William Archibald. This engraving appeared in Vol I of the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society. He spent four years with William Archibald, then setting up on his own account. At the end of he moved to Hackney to join the workshop of George Cooke. The premium paid for his month stay with Cooke was £ Other apprentices with Cooke included William Shotter Boys.
